Alvento History
Twenty five years ago on a hillside town in Tuscany, Bruno and Elyane Moos started a small vineyard with the hope of learning by trial and error and ultimately producing wines of excellence. With a mere 4 hectares, producing high quality wines was the only way to survive and prosper. Soiana became a wine lovers destination and eventually every bottle was sold out before the harvest.
Morrie Neiss, a wine collector, came around several years later and helped with the Vendemia, learning a little and becoming enthusiastic about the
wine making part of wine appreciation. A partnership evolved and the new company moved to Canada where the industry was at the threshold of international notice.
In 2001, Alvento was created on a 16 acre waterfront site in the Niagara peninsula. Our first serious vintage was 2006, arguably wines of very high quality.
A previous vintage had been sampled in Europe to critical acclaim.
Alvento will produce only ultra high quality wines or will not bottle the vintage. We will not put our label on a wine unless we are confident it will be accepted with high acclaim.
